About & sourcing policy
Daily Dive is a daily digest of saltwater and reef aquarium news:
industry and product announcements, husbandry and science, notable forum discussion,
new videos, livestock and coral news, wild reef conditions, and club events.
It is assembled automatically each morning and reviewed by one person — me. It is a
hobby project, not a publication, and it is not affiliated with any of the outlets
it links to.
How sources are selected
- Only outlets that publish a public feed or API. Nothing here is scraped.
- Sources are chosen for signal, not completeness. This is a digest, not an archive.
- Anything that reads as an ad rather than news is filtered out.
How sources are credited
- Every item names its outlet and links to the original. That link is the point.
- Summaries are short and in my own words — facts and context, never a replacement
for reading the source.
- No article text is reproduced. Quotes, where they appear, are brief and attributed.
- Every issue lists all the outlets it drew from.
How the crawler behaves
- Honors
robots.txt on every request.
- Identifies itself as
DailyDiveBot with a working contact address.
- No more than one request per second per site.
- Uses conditional requests, so an unchanged feed costs the host almost nothing.
Corrections and removal
If you publish something that appears here and you'd like it removed, your feed
excluded, or a credit corrected, email
theloneaquarist@gmail.com.
No justification needed — I'll remove it and it stays removed.
